Author Spotlight: Getting Caught Up

In taking a short break between interviews, let’s do a quick recap to allow you to read any missed interviews.

First, I was able to interview Daan Katz, author of Night’s Reign. Daan, a friend and mentor from The Netherlands, opened up about his debut novel. He shared a little about developing the main characters of his book, while also sharing a phenomenal peek into his second book. He also discusses inclusive characters, particularly those with disabilities, and talks about the tools that aid him as a writer.

The next interview I was able to share was with R.A. Lingenfelter, award-winning author of End of Crows. In this interview, she shared the inspiration for one of her first books and how using her personal experiences has driven her story-telling. She shared advice, experience, and her love of connecting with her readers.

Then I had the honor of interviewing E.C. Greaves, author of Daughter of the Beast, which is now a SPFBO9 Finalist. E.C.’s book caught my eye at the start of SPFBO9, and it thrilled me from cover to cover, so I was especially proud to be one of the first, I think, to be able to interview him. He talked to me about the book, the main character, his inspirations, and a bit about himself. Plus, he shared some of his artwork!

Following, I interviewed my friend, Robert Sparks, author of the coming YA Fantasy, The Wayward Alchemist. Robert is still writing his debut novel, but he welcomed the opportunity to talk about the journey writing is taking him on. He shares how music affects his imagination and how that transitions in to scene building.

Next, came my interview with Anat Eliraz, Israeli author of Jewels of Smoky Quartz. Anat discusses her book and the main character as well as her unique experience to market her book. She also talks about the inspiration behind the book: questions regarding free will. Revealing fun bits about herself (she’s a physiotherapist, practices Aikido, and has been known to play D&D), she also shares a little bit about her newest book, coming soon.

Then, I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing an old college friend, Kearsie Murphy, author of Parasomnia. Kearsie filled me in on her new YA time-travel novel and a little about developing the main character. She also shared some great insights, her love of music (there is a playlist at the end of her book…), and shares a little about her writing process.

Each of these interviews has been an incredible bit of fun and insight for me, and I know they will be for you as well.

There is nothing so cool as getting to see the insider view of how an artist works.

These authors share a vast wealth of information and experience while also giving delightful peeks into their books. As you read over these interviews, remember these authors welcome your interaction. I highly encourage you to follow them on their chosen social media sites, read their books, and leave them a review.

I have a few more Indie authors lined up for future interviews, so be sure to add this website to your favorites tab. I started doing these once a week, but as we move into the holiday season, and as kids are back in school, and life is just generally more hectic for everyone, I hope to have a new interview every two weeks.

Now, if you are an Indie writer as well, and you’d be interested in talking to me about your book, please click here to learn more about how to get on my interview list.
